RAWALPINDI, Nov 18: A clerk of an additional district and sessions court has appealed to a judge to take action against some lawyers who allegedly manhandled him on the court premises for not providing them copies of some case files.

The clerk, Zafar Iqbal, in his application pleaded that the judge should order the police to register a case against two advocates, Ghulam Sabir and Amjid Arshad Abassi.

Mr Zafar said he failed to provide the copies because he was busy in preparations for Friday prayers.

After exchanging harsh words, the two men along with some other lawyers attacked me, he added.

Meanwhile, the additional district and sessions judge, Mohammad Sarwar Sidhu, on Monday acquitted a person of murder by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

According to sources, the accused allegedly killed a man, Nisaq, in the jurisdiction of Sadar Bairooni police station.

The accused wanted to employ sister of the deceased as maid, but the deceased refused, they added.

The same court rejected the bail application of a person, Abdul Farooq, accused of committing burglary in the jurisdiction of R. A. Bazaar police station. The judge awarded four months of rigorous imprisonment to a drug-pusher and imposed a fine of Rs2,000.

The convict, Habibur Rehman, will undergo another month of jail term, in case he fails to pay the fine.

The same court acquitted a person by giving him the benefit of the doubt.
