Kasi’s extradition was illegal: family
QUETTA, Nov 18: No treaty of extradition of criminals exists between Pakistan and the United States. The treaty which is being discussed is of 1931, which was reached between the USA and the UK.
This was stated by Hameedullah Kasi, eldest brother of Aimal Kasi who arrived in the provincial metropolis on Monday afternoon along with the his brother’s body from New York via Karachi by PIA flight PK-352.
Aimal Kasi was executed in Virginia by lethal injection for killing two CIA employees nine years ago.
He said that the treaty endorsed by the Pakistan government was of 1952. “It is a Friendship Treaty between Pakistan and the US,” he added.
Replying to a question, he said that the proceedings in the US were satisfactory. The attitude of Americans was clear that they would not spare him, he added.
Answering another question he said that Kasi faced the death courageously.
His brother said that Kasi was disappointed at the attitude of the Pakistan government and during his last meeting he said Salam to all his friends in Quetta.
Asked if they would go to courts including International Courts of Justice, he said that only governments could app-roach it.
A renowned lawyer had offered to approach the court but he was not allowed by the government, he added.—PPI
