KARACHI, Nov 18: Reckless driving claimed three lives in the city on Monday.

A 17-year-old boy died in a road accident in Federal B-Area in the morning.

Police said that Hamza Lodhi, a student of class 1X, was run over by a point bus of Karachi University (EX-0007) near the KMDC roundabout while on way to his school, on a bicycle, from his house in Lal Shahbaz Nagar.

He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police claimed to have arrested the bus driver, Mohammed Shafi.

A 14-year-old boy was knocked down by a speeding truck in Baldia Town.

Police said that Pappu was run over by a speeding truck (LS-3848) while walking across the main road. He died on way to Civil Hospital.

The truck driver fled the scene abandoning the truck.

A unidentified woman died in a road accident late Sunday night in Nazimabad.

Police said that the woman was crossing a main road when an unknown vehicle knocked her down.

She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

CARJACKING: Twenty-six vehicles — 10 cars and 16 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, police said.

Four cars were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Seven motorcycles were hijacked. Nine others were stolen.
