Qublai’s 4 goals help team clinch crown

LAHORE, Nov 17: Four goals by ace Shah Qublai Alam, including a hat trick, enabled Global Telecom to win the Global Telecom Cup polo tournament, thrashing Millennium Bug 8-1/2-4 at the Lahore Polo Club ground Sunday.

Qublai who scored his first goal at the end of the second chukker scored two more in the start of the next to complete his hat trick.

He also netted a goal in the fourth chukker. 

Raja Amir also played well scoring three goals. Jamal Iftikhar chipped in a goal. Half goal was their handicap.

For Millennium, Shah Shamyl Alam, scored two goals while Asma Hayee and Sufi Amir contributed a goal each.

Millennium took a lead of 2- 1 1/2 at the end of the first chukker. Asma drew first blood while Amir scored the other goal. For Global Jamal scored one goal.

In the second chukker, Global staged a comeback scoring two quick goals, the first through Amir and the second by Qublai. 

The losers also scored a goal when Shamyl struck his first before the end of the chukker but even then Global maintained it lead by half a goal with the score 3 1/2-3.

Global dominated the third chukker from start to end scoring all three goals. Qublai completed his hat trick while Amir scored his second goal. That gave Global a commendable lead of 6 1/2-3.

Maintaining their pressure, Global earned two more goals in the fourth chukker making it a one sided-affair. Shamyl scored goal in the closing minutes of the game only to reduce the margin of defeat 8 1/2-4.

Earlier,  Opinion Attitude got the third spot, beating Galaxy in a high scoring match 11-8.

Usman Hayee and Adnan Lone scored five and four goals, respectively for the winners. Rashid Ali Bag and Babar Monnoo added one goal each.

For the losers, Nasir Ahmad Khan and Feroze Gulzar scored four and three goals, respectively. The remaining one goal came from Hamza Raees.
