FAISALABAD, Nov 17: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool has expressed anguish and concern over the murder of a Qadiani and directed the local police to make allout efforts to protect the lives and properties of minorities.

In the directive, the governor said all citizens of Pakistan had equal rights to live and express their faith in accordance with the prescribed law. Nobody would be allowed to disrupt peace and take law into his hands, he maintained.

He sent his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them full protection and justice.

The governor also directed the district police chief to submit chargesheet of the case within the shortest possible time so that justice could be provided to victims.

Tehrik Khatm-i-Nabuwat activist Imtiaz Husain Shah, with the help of a friend named Rafaqat Ali, stabbed to death a Qadiani, Abdul Waheed, in Mustafaabad in the limits of Civil Lines Police Station last Thursday “as part of their religious duty”.

The civil lines police booked the accused who later courted arrest and reportedly confessed to their crime. The accused are being interrogated by a team of police officers headed by the DSP Civil Lines.

DACOITIES: Dacoits shot dead a boy and made off with cash, two cars, a motorcycle and a tractor in nine strikes here on Sunday.

Some dacoits shot dead Rafaqat Ali on resistance in Rehmania Town.

A gang of dacoits forced their entry into the house of Haji Ashraf in Chak 199-RB in Chak Jhumra and fled after looting cash and valuables.

Masked dacoits looted cash, gold ornaments and valuables from the house of Mohammad Husain in Chak 170-GB.

Four armed men took away Rs20,000 in cash, gold ornaments and valuables from the house of Dr Sharjeel at Harianala Chowk.

Five gangsters entered a shop at Babar Chowk of Batala Colony and fled after looting calling cards worth Rs300,000.

Akram was deprived of car by three masked highwaymen in Chak 225-RB.

Some armed men snatched cash and a car from Masood Ahmad in the area of Lundianwala police.

Thieves made off with a tractor of Imtiaz from Chibban Mohalla in the area of Sargodha Road police.

Motorcycle of Imtiaz Ahmad was stolen from Mansoorabad.

MURDERED: A girl was axed to death allegedly by some relatives over a property dispute in Chak 353-GB here on Sunday.

An altercation cropped up during a reconciliation meeting held for resolving a property dispute between Ali Mohammad and some of his relatives. Both the groups exchanged hot words and attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons. Sahi Bibi, the sister of Ali Muhammad, sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
