Khurram steers Al Noor Gym

KARACHI, Nov 16: A swashbuckling unbeaten 85 by Khurram Manzoor, enabled Al Noor Gymkhana register a nine-wicket victory over UBL Academy in the 17th Karachi Gymkhana Callmate Cricket Festival played Saturday.

Deciding to bat after winning the toss, UBL Academy due largely to a delightful innings of 83 by Sharjeel off 68 deliveries, studded with nine boundaries and three sixes were able to score 154 off 24.4 overs. Akber Rehman three wickets for five runs, Atif Raza two for 19 and M. Ali Zafar two for 29, taking bowling honours.

Al Noor achieved the target in only 12 overs losing one wicket with Khurram Manzoor hitting an unbeaten 85 to guide his team to an emphatic victory. He put on on 153 in only 10.5 overs with Saad (60 not out) as Al Noor made 157 for one.

Khurram, who was later named the Man of the Match, walloped 85 not out in only 41 balls, laced with 18 sizzling boundaries. Saad not to be left behind, hammered five boundaries and two soaring sixes in his 31-ball knock of 60 not out.

Summarized scores: UBL Academy 154 in 24.4 overs (Sharjeel 83; Akber Rehman 3-5); Al Noor 167 for one (Khurram Manzoor 85 n.o., Saad 60 n.o.)
