LAHORE,  Nov 16: PCB Whites chalked up their first victory in the Super League One-day Ramazan Cup Cricket Tournament when they defeated PCB Greens by 20 runs at  Gaddafi Stadium Saturday.

Defending a low total of 206, PCB Whites bowled and fielded well to restrict PCB Greens to 186 all out in 44 overs.

Moin Khan, the PCB Whites skipper playing his first match in the tournament, played a useful knock of 45 and also held three catches behind the stumps.

Put into bat, PCB Whites made a disastrous start when they collapsed to 105 for six despite a fine display by young opener Shadab Kabir who scored 46 off 107 deliveries with the help of two boundaries.

However, Moin and Tahir Mughal revived the innings by coming together in a seventh-wicket stand worth 57 runs.

Tahir fell to leg-spinner Azhar Ali for a well made 36. His 48-ball innings contained five fours. Moin was eventually bowled by off-spinner Shoaib Malik for 45, which was laced with four hits to the fence. He negotiated with 54 balls.

Pacers Jaffar Nazir finished with three for 29 and Kashif Raza two for 39.

When PCB Greens batted, only opener Mohammad Ramzan (32 off 53 balls, five fours) and captain Shoaib Malik (32 off 38 balls, three fours) were able to bat convincingly against a varied bowling attack.

Test reject Danish Kaneria, the tall leg-spinner, bowled splendidly to finish with three for 43 in 10 overs. Another Pakistan discard Fazle Akbar, the fast bowler, bowled economically to take two for 20 in 7.3 overs.

Jaffar Nazir was declared the Man-of-the-Match and received Rs 5,000. He also shared the prize of Rs 2,000 with Zahid Saeed for hitting most number of sixes (two each).

Tahir Mughal and Mohammad Ramzan also shared the prize of Rs 2,000 equally for hitting five boundaries. Moin got Rs 2,000 for holding most three catches.
