Nadeem and Mohsin power Shaheen Gym to victory

KARACHI, Nov 16: Off-spinner Mohsin Akhtar and opening batsman Nadeem Tariq guided Shaheen Gymkhana to an easy five-wicket victory over Tapal CC in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Tournament at AKG Ground here Saturday.

Mohsin bowled brilliantly to snap up four for 16 in five overs as Tapal CC were bowled out for 157 in 23.2 overs.

Mohsin’s victims included Hasan Arshad (21), Mohammad Masroor (20) and Jaffar Qureshi (0). His efforts earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Akif Alvi top-scored with 40 off 30 balls, including five fours and one six.

Shaheen Gymkhana, in reply, reached their target in 23.4 overs by scoring 161 for five.

Nadeem Tariq hammered four boundaries and a brace of sixes in his knock of 62 off 54 balls. Fellow opener Imran Umar also shone with 43 off 46 deliveries, striking two fours. Nadeem and Imran put on 103 for the first wicket.

TAPAL CC 157 in 23.2 overs (Akif Alvi 40, Hasan Arshad 21, Mohammad Masroor 20; Mohsin Akhtar 4-16);

SHAHEEN GYMKHANA 161-5 in 23.4 overs (Nadeem Tariq 62, Imran Umar 43; Jaffar Qureshi 2-37).
