FAISALABAD, Nov 16: The co-accused in the Thursday killing of a Qadiani in Mustafaabad courted arrest on Saturday.

Rafaqat Ali produced himself before the Civil Lines police. He was accompanied by a large number of notables and religious leaders of Mustafaabad.

Police, however, claimed Rafaqat was arrested from his house in Islamnagar.

The principal accused, Imtiaz Shah, who had allegedly stabbed Abdul Waheed to death, courted arrest on Friday morning.

Imtiaz is stated to be an activist of Tehrik Khatam-i-Nabuwat while Rafaqat is one of his close friends, having no links with any religious organization.

According to police, Rafaqat overpowered Waheed and Imtiaz attacked him with a knife. Waheed died on the spot.

Both the accused had gone into hiding after committing the crime but later courted arrest.

Police sources told this correspondent that Rafaqat told investigators that Waheed committed blasphemy due to which he along with Imtiaz Shah had stabbed him to death.

ROBBERIES: A trader was shot at and injured by robbers who made off with thousands of rupees, valuables, six motorcycles and a car in nine strikes in the city and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hours.

Armed men forced their entry into the shop of Gohar Ali in Khurrianwala. They shot at and injured him when he put up resistance, collected thousands of rupees and valuables, and escaped.

Two masked men deprived Muhammad Yaseen, a worker of an industrial units, of Rs13,000 on Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road.

Arshad Mahmood had parked his car (No FDS 3045) outside a commercial centre along Kotwali Road. He found it missing on return.

Three robbers took away a motorcycle (No FDZ 8253) from Shahzad Ahmad in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Muhammad Ashraf was deprived of his motorcycle (No FDO 4085) and Rs2,000 in Gulistan Colony.

Two unidentified men took away the two-wheeler of a student, Muhammad Imran, from Gulberg Colony. Shakeel Ahmad was deprived of by his two-wheeler (No FDT 6009) by some unidentified thieves in Peoples Colony.

Thieves took away the motorcycle of Mushtaq Ahmad from Amin Town and another two-wheeler of Muhammad Zahid from Fatehabad.
