GILGIT, Nov 16: The police recovered on Friday a driver who was kidnapped for ransom on Nov 9, the police sources said.

The sources said that Deeadar Karim, resident of Alibad, central Hunza, was driver of a wagon owned by his alleged captors.

The vehicle, reportedly, got damaged in an accident when Deedar’s younger brother was driving it.

The owners of the vehicle wanted to get full price of the vehicle, despite the fact that the driver offered compensation money for the actual damage caused, the sources added.

The sources said that after being refused the amount, the accused, Nawab, Bilal and Nazrab, all residents of Danyore, Gilgit, kidnapped Deedar from Hunza and kept him in a house at Askurdas, Nagar tehsil.

The accused had demanded Rs0.350m for his release, the sources said.

The police claimed that they had identified the alleged captors who escaped while Deedar was being rescued.

However, raids were being conducted to arrest the three accused. The police lodged an FIR against them.
