NEW YORK, Nov 16: Women artists of Pakistan were honoured on Friday at the United States launch of Prof Salima Hashmi’s book “Unveiling the visible,” a 50-year survey of women’s contribution to art in the country.

The chairperson of social sciences at Sarah Lawrence College, Dr Shahnaz Rouse, spoke of the social and political context in which women’s lives and work had been documented.

Prof Hashmi said: “Today the powerful quality and diversity in the work being produced by women artists in Pakistan is reflective of their dynamism and their willingness to take risks in form and content.”
