Pakistan may not host Asian Championship

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The 12th Asian Senior Championship that was to be held in Islamabad next year is virtually off because of security concerns, Chaudhry Yaqub, president of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) said.

Yaqub, who inaugurated an International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Level I course for coaches in Wah said that the teams had reservations competing in Pakistan.

Yaqub also gave details of various events that were being planned in the coming months with the National Championship slated for the month of December in Wah.

The four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Army, Navy, Air Force, POF Wah, PTCL, Wapda and Islamabad will take part.

The Club Championship will take place next year in which as many as 12 teams are to compete, Yaqub said and disclosed that a volleyball league was also being planned.
