Case against three cops, seven others: Escape from courtroom

OKARA, Nov 15: The DSP (Legal) has got registered a case against 10 people, including three Cantonment policemen and the father of the killer, who escaped from courtroom on Thursday.

Allah Ditta involved in a double murder case managed to escape from courtroom of additional sessions judge Rana Abdul Hafeez. On the SSP’s direction, DSP Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain after an initial inquiry got registered the case against accused Allah Ditta’s father Muhammad Ishaq, SI Muhammad Khurshid, headconstable Arif, constable Munir, civilians Daulat, Gulzar, Abdur Rauf and their three unidentified accomplices for negligence and helping the accused in his escape. The policemen booked were also suspended from their services.

NO WATER: Farmers of Chaks 24/2-R, 25/2-R and 26/2-R are deprived of canal water as the irrigating power lift machine at the LBDC was out of order for the last three weeks.

Hundreds of farmers had the lift machine repaired on self-help basis, but the Wapda authorities disconnected the power supply because the Irrigation department could not pay the bill. The season of wheat and fodder sowing has set in, but the farmers are still without water.

VACANT POSTS: The posts of three specialist doctors including a lady gynaecologist have been lying vacant in the DHQ Hospital for the last two years.

These posts became vacant when an orthopaedic surgeon, an eye surgeon and a gynaecologist went abroad. Despite demand and protest by the general public, these posts have not been filled so far.

It was learnt some two months ago that an orthopaedic surgeon and a gynaecologist had been posted at the DHQ Hospital. But the lady doctor refused to join the duty as a proper residence was not available for her.
