RAWALPINDI, Nov 15: The Lahore High Court Bar Association would stage a sit-in on Saturday in front of parliament on the occasion of the inaugural session of the National Assembly and would demand for the revival of ‘73 Constitution.

The bar president, Chaudhry Ikram, said here on Friday the lawyers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad would take part in the demonstration, which would start at 10am from the Supreme Court building and would concluded in front of parliament.

He said the main aim of the demonstration was to discourage the horse-trading in the formation of new government, the legal framework order and the frequent interference of the establishment in the affair of judiciary.

The government should withdraw its decision regarding extension of duration in judges tenure for three years, he said adding it amounted to corrupting the judiciary.

To a query, he said the country needed not a President in the army uniform and added that the presence of National Security Council meant the controlled and weak democratic system and rule of the establishment. He termed the constitutional changes made by President Gen Musharraf undemocratic.
