HYDERABAD, Nov 15: The Hyderabad district council here on Friday demanded the removal of the district police administration for failing to contain the incidents of bomb blasts in the city.

An out of agenda resolution was tabled by labour councillor Rana Mehmood Ali Khan in the wake of the bus bomb blast, which killed two men and injured nine.

In his resolution, Khan said that the district police had failed in arresting terrorists as the police were more interested in harassing motorcyclists.

He demanded that the deceased should be given compensation and the medical expenses of those injured should be borne by the government.

Qazi Abdul Qadeer and Yousuf Qureshi supported the resolution and said that in the wake of an expected backlash, following the execution of Aimal Kasi in the US, stringent security measures were undertaken in the country but no such measures were seen in the city, with the result that two precious lives were lost in the bomb blast.

They condemned the police force for being incompetent.

The council continued debate on the annual address of the district Nazim and the members expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of government departments, working under the district government.

The session was presided over by Meeran Mohammad Shah.
