KARACHI, Nov 15: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B.Rind has asked the education and health secretaries to ensure rescheduling and reactivation of school health care/services, specifically in dental care.
He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting of senior education and health officials on Friday.
The chief secretary said the comprehensive school health care programme should include nutrition nourishment, presentation, awareness and treatment, besides features to provide vitamins to the students.
He showed displeasure when told that 250 doctors working under school health care programme were reluctant to visit the schools and perform their duties.
“They must perform their duties or else strict action will be initiated against them under the efficiency and discipline rules,” he warned.
Mr Rind said that duty certificates of these doctors, issued by the concerned school heads, be checked along with a transparent monitoring of school health care programme.
He directed the health and education secretaries to re- enforce the programme and submit him a report within a week.
He said proposals regarding funding problems should also be presented so that the relevant forums could be approached.—APP
