KARACHI: Chinese delegation visits KU

KARACHI, Nov 15: A four-member Chinese delegation, led by Cultural Consular Yuan Weixue, visited Karachi University and called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Zafar Saied Saify, on Friday.

They discussed matters pertaining to education and research as well as cultural ties, a spokesman for the University said.

He said the Chinese delegation also visited the phonics lab at the Department of English and observed its functioning as well as performance.

The lab, it was stated, has been set up in collaboration with the government of China.

Dean Faculty of Arts, Dr Abu Zar Wajidi, and Chairman of the Department of English, Prof Dr Munir Wasti, stressed the need for expansion in the lab.

Dr Saify presented the crest of the University to the members of the delegation, which included Cultural Attache Zhang Jing, and Cultural Consular Sun Sinyon.

The spokesman said that the visit was in connection with the memorandum of understanding signed by China and Pakistan for cooperation in the spheres of culture, research and education during President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s visit to China.

Results: Karachi University on Friday declared the results of MA (previous) Islamic Studies external annual examinations 2001.

About 638 candidates had appeared in the exams, out of whom 375 were declared pass with a pass percentage of 58.78.

The candidates have been directed to collect their marks sheets from their colleges.—APP
