KARACHI: Rs200m fund set up for deserving students


KARACHI, Nov 14: Sindh minister for finance, planning & development, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, has said that the present government is providing every possible assistance to poor, intelligent students and for the first time it has established an ‘Endowment Fund’ of Rs200 million for the purpose.

Speaking in a meeting about the endowment fund at his office on Thursday, he said the Fund had been established for the benefit of intelligent students who were unable to continue their higher studies because of limited means.

The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary finance, Fazal-ur-Rehamn, secretary education Nazar Hussain Mehar, director IBA Mr Danishmand and other officers concerned. The minister said that an amount of Rs200 million would be allocated for the fund each year so that students could continue to draw benefits in future.—PPI
