Five grenades, rocket launcher recovered

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 13: Rajana police on Wednesday claim to have recovered a rocket launcher and five hand grenades from a nearby Chak 294-GB.

Some children were digging earth for their houses when they found the weapons. They reportedly brought these weapons to their houses and when their elders saw them they immediately informed the police. A police official said the weapons had caught rust and it seemed someone had buried them at least a year ago.

Police have registered a case under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act.

ALLOWANCE: The Punjab government has raised the medical allowance of its employees from grade one to 15.

A source disclosed here on Wednesday that previously the employees were given Rs160 per month while in future they would get Rs210.

CONDOLENCE: Various political leaders have condoled the death of Asif Ali Zardari’s mother.

Those who issued statements on Wednesday include, former MNA and PPP district president Haji Muhammad Ishaq, PPP city president Zulfiqar Ali, Punjab Millat Party chief organizer Ghiasuddin Janbaz and former MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq.

DEMANDED: To meet the shortage of baildars to look after the canal banks, the Irrigation Department should immediately start recruitments.

This was stated by Pakistan Irrigation Employees Power Union (CBA) central deputy secretary-general Allah Bakhsh Siyal in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

He said the ban on the fresh recruitment in the department had been lifted through a notification, but so far no one was employed.

The rising incidents of breaches in canals were the outcome of the staff shortage, he added.
