KARACHI, Nov 13: The Sindh Workers Welfare Board (SWWB) will ask the SITE Limited for land allocation to build a worker’s colony at the Super Highway and a welfare centre in Korangi for the deaf and dumb children of the workers.
This decision was taken at the 103rd meeting of the board held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Provincial Labour Secretary Raja Mohammed Abbas.
The meeting took various decisions on framing a transparent policy to provide the workers with dowry grants and scholarships etc. A policy for the allotment of houses, flats and shops was also devised for them.
In order to maintain transparency, separate committees were formed for Karachi and Hyderabad.
Mr Abbas asked the representatives on the board to ensure that the worker’s incentive policy was implemented in a transparent manner and provincial harmony was kept in view while making allotments of houses, flats and shops.
The board also gave a go-ahead for building a model school, children park, sports complex and other schemes which were approved at the board’s 102nd meeting.—APP
