KARACHI, Nov 13: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind said on Wednesday that all the arrangements had been finalized to transfer powers to the elected public representatives.
Renovation of the Sindh Assembly building, offices of ministers at Sindh Secretariat, Old KDA Building, Tughlaq House, provision of vehicles and posting of the staff concerned had been completed, he said while speaking to a group of newsmen in his office.
He said that in view of the increased number of assembly members, additional seating arrangements had been made as per requirement. Similarly, lodgings for additional 32 members had also been built in the MPA Hostel, he added.
The Chief Minister House had also been renovated and decorated. Thus, the task given to the Sindh government had been accomplished, he told the newsmen.
In reply to a question, he said the promotion and move-over of the government employees were over-due and pending for years. Such employees had been allowed move-overs who were waiting for it since 1992.
He said the government wanted that no deserved employees be deprived of their due rights. Hence, all the pending matters were being reviewed again, he added.
In reply to another question on the control over price-hike, the chief secretary said the steps being taken in Ramazan would continue even after Eid, and an action would be taken against hoarders and profiteers.
He maintained that price of wheat, which was Rs9 per kg, which was also a step towards price controlling thereby avoiding its hoarding and black-marketing.
For reforms in the sectors of health, education and social welfare, he said social welfare and charitable organisations should also work in collaboration with the government.
He also told the newsmen that the government was considering to give more relief to the masses, and urged scholars, intellectuals, journalists, social workers and other sections of society to give guidelines and suggestions in this regard.
The chief secretary said that in a day or two he would attend the telephones at phone no. 135 and would listen to the complains of the masses and issue necessary instructions then and there.—PPI
