LAHORE, Nov 12: The supreme council of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) is meeting in Karachi on Wednesday (today) to decide whether the religious parties alliance will join hands with other parties to form government or sit in opposition.

Earlier, a meeting of coordination committees of the MMA and the Grand National Alliance (GNA) was held in Islamabad on Tuesday to finalize recommendations on government formation, the Legal Framework Order, and other issues.

These recommendations will be presented in the Karachi meeting to be held with Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani in the chair.

MMA central information secretary Pir Ijaz Hashmi said here on Tuesday that the Karachi meeting would also discuss Qazi Husain Ahmad and Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s meetings with President Gen Pervez Musharraf and results of the talks held with the PML-Q, the PPP and the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) on the present political situation.

He said the MMA had not yet taken any decision on forming alliance with any party.
