PML-N protests delay in session

LAHORE, Nov 12: PML-N legislators-elect from Lahore held a demonstration in front of the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday to demand that the regime should immediately call sessions of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures.

In case it did not, the elected members would hold their meetings outside the assembly buildings, Punjab PML-N Secretary-General and MNA-elect Khwaja Saad Rafiq said while speaking to the demonstrators.

The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with their demands.

The PML-N leader alleged that the president was a threat to the solidarity of the country. He said Gen Musharraf wanted to have his ‘black laws’ passed by the assembly which PML-N members would resist tooth and nail.

He said the regime, not politicians, was responsible for the prevailing political deadlock.

Mr.Saad was critical of the role of the state-controlled electronic media, and alleged that it was carrying out media trial of political leaders.
