TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 12: Light rain has been reported in the district and adjoining areas.
The rain started on Monday at 5pm and continued till 12 noon on Tuesday.
According to an agriculture official, the rain will benefit the crops which were affected due to irrigation water shortage, specially at tail-end villages of Gogera and Jhang branch canals.
Dark clouds were still hovering over the district till the filing of this report late Tuesday night.
WIRE STOLEN: Thieves took away electricity wire and a transformer from Chak No 98 JB, Kohlianwala, on Monday night.
According to details, the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) had installed a 25 KVA transformer and wires for the Khewra waterlogging eradication tubewell project which was to be connected to the main supply line soon.
Thieves took away wires from 19 poles and transformer, worth Rs310,000, on Monday night.
Gojra Saddar police registered a case on the report of Wapda’s Scrap project sub-engineer.
MURDERS: Three people were murdered and another was injured seriously in as many incidents in the district on Tuesday.
A woman was killed by her step-son who also injured her brother in Chak No 383 JB.
Allahyar came to the house of his step-mother Amina Bibi from Qila Malha Singh, Gujranwala, to settle a family dispute. After a quarrel, he attacked Amina with a knife and also stabbed her brother Inamul Haq when he came to the rescue of his sister.
Amina died on the spot while the condition of Inam was stated to be serious at the DHQ hospital.
Area police arrested the accused.
Two unidentified men killed Muhammad Sharif Jat in Shah Alam Colony, Gojra.
Sharif was sitting in a barber’s shop when the attackers reached there on a motorcycle and opened fire, killing him on the spot.
Family told police that Sharif was shot dead by their rivals.
A farmer was stabbed and killed over a money dispute in Chak No 693/35 GB.
Witnesses said after exchange of hot words, Lal Khan attacked Khurshid Ahmad with a knife, injuring him seriously.
Khurshid succumbed to his injuries at a Pirmahal hospital.
