FAISALABAD, Nov 12: A dozen trade bodies have expressed grave concern over ‘alarming rise’ in dacoities, highway robberies and vehicle thefts in the district.
A joint statement issued here on Tuesday by the Traders Alliance, Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association, Retailers Association Faisalabad and other local associations criticized police for its failure in controlling the law and order in the city and its suburban areas.
They said that broad daylight dacoities in the houses of shopkeepers and industrialists and vehicle lifting on highways had become an order of the day.
They said that in a number of cases during last one week the crime was committed close to police pickets.
AWARENESS DRIVE: Traffic police will launch a special programme with the consultation of Organization for Community Development for the awareness of traffic rules among schoolchildren.
This was stated by Traffic SP Zahid Hussain Sherazi, who addressed a news conference along with Sher Afgan Hashmi, OCD chairman.
The programme would be introduced soon in city schools and suburban areas under a well prepared plan to control the violation of traffic rules.
