Lawyers warn of agitation

Published November 12, 2002

LAHORE, Nov 11: Lawyers will launch a countrywide movement for the restoration of Constitution in case the National Assembly session is not convened by Friday, Nov 15.

An announcement to this effect was made by the Lahore High Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Muzammal Khan and Secretary Shahid Mahmud Bhatti here on Monday.

They accused the military rulers of deliberately delaying the transfer of power to the elected representatives of the people and violating their oath to uphold the 1973 Constitution.

They said that the bar associations throughout the country would observe ‘Constitution Day’ on Thursday by holding meetings, seeking immediate restoration of the 1973 Constitution. — Reporter
