PML-N’s threat

Published November 12, 2002

LAHORE, Nov 11: The PML-N threatened on Monday that it would part ways with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in case it cooperated with the PML-Q for government formation.

Punjab secretary-general Khwaja Saad Rafiq speaking at a meeting of the legislators-elect from the provincial metropolis also expressed dissatisfaction over the role of the PPP, which is its ally on the ARD’s platform.

“The PPP should stop giving a romantic look to the establishment”, said the budding leader, who would retain his National Assembly seat, vacating the provincial one for Mianwali’s Inamullah Khan Niazi.

Mr Saad held the regime responsible for the ongoing political deadlock, saying political parties were not responsible for it. The participants decided to hold a demonstration on Tuesday to protest against the failure of the regime to call a session of the assembly, illegal arrest of Dr.Amir Aziz and price hike.

Expressing support for the lawyers’ struggle, they said they would hold receptions for the Bar leaders. — Staff Reporter
