RAWALPINDI, Nov 11: Two schools, one each for boys and girls, are proposed to be built in Morgah for the children of industrial workers, District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani said here on Monday.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the District Human Resource Board, he said the land for the two schools had already been provided and the Punjab government was being asked to provide funds for their establishment. He said the provincial government would also be requested to provide funds for the labour colony.
The Nazim said his government would work for the implementation of the labour laws for the betterment of the working class. He said the board would work for improving relations between the employees and the employer so that problems of the labourers were solved.
Mr Kiani said the district government would recommend the government to amend laws that were against the interest of the working class. He said in this regard he would follow the recommendations of the labour unions.
The government, the Nazim said, would be asked to give the status of industry to the hotelling sector so that workers associated with this profession could qualify to benefit the facilities available for social security and other such arrangements.
He directed the district officer (labour) to provide a detail of the hospitals and dispensaries set up for the workers throughout the district. He said a committee would be set up to monitor the scholarships given to the children of workers.
