QUETTA, Nov 11: The Balochistan Public Ad-hoc Account Committee (BPAAC) has unearthed financial irregularities worth Rs1.5 billion in various government departments during the last two-and-a-half years.

This was disclosed in a report presented to the Balochistan Governor Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal by the chairman, BPAAC, Malik Mohammad Naeem, at a meeting held here on Monday.

The report said that Rs340 million had been recovered, so far, out of the total Rs1.5billion, by the authorities concerned, from the departments identified by the committee.

The governor, while speaking at the meeting, lauded the efforts of the BPAAC and said that it had played an important role in controlling corruption, maintaining financial discipline and establishing good governance in the province.

He said that 100 new posts of the finance planning and account officers had been created which were filled through the Balochistan Public Service Commission.

Suggestions were also presented in the meeting to improve the performance of the committee.
