Police fail to check dacoities

FAISALABAD, Nov 11: Despite making tight security arrangements, the local police failed to arrest the upward trend of dacoities, highway robberies and snatching of vehicles in the city and its rural areas.

Armed bandits in 10 different strikes looted hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash, gold and also snatched four motorcycles during the last 24 hours.

Four armed robbers thrashed Wasa employees — Wasim Masih, Sattar Hussain and others and looted thousands of rupees in cash when they were working on a sewer line in Shalimar Park in the limits of Batala Colony police station.

A gang of bandits injured watchman Muhammad Younas for putting up resistance during a dacoity bid in Mohallah Altaf Ganj in the area of Jhang Bazaar police station.

Unidentified armed dacoits looted Rs44,000 in cash and ornaments worth thousands of rupees from the family members of Kausar Nafees in Rasool Nagar of Ghulam Muhammadabad police station.

Thieves took away electric appliances, ornaments and other valuables worth thousands of rupees from the house of Abid Nawaz in Aminpur Bazaar in the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station.

Armed bandits barged into Mirza Ashfaq Baig’s house in Harchanpura and fled after looting thousands of rupees in cash and gold ornaments.

A gang of dacoits busted into the house of Pir Muhammad in Chak 29-RB of Jaranwala and looted thousands of rupees in cash, ornaments and other valuables at gunpoint.

Two highwaymen snatched a motorcycle (FDZ-7736), thousands of rupees in cash and a mobile telephone set from Waris Ali on the Faisalabad-Sargodha Road.

Two young highwaymen snatched a two-wheeler (FDV-7520) from Zulfiqar Ali on the Faisalabad-Jhang Road.

Three masked robbers snatched a motorcycle (RNF-7373) and thousands of rupees in cash from Sakhawat Ali in Chak 435-GB.

Thieves lifted a two-wheeler (FDZ-871) when its owner Sagheer Ahmed parked it in Rail Bazaar.

RAW AGENT: The special team of a secret agency rounded up an alleged agent of Indian agency RAW from the local railway station here on Sunday night.

Sources told Dawn on Monday that the RAW agent was roaming in the get-up of a deranged person when the secret agency personnel overpowered and shifted him to some unknown place. Ram Dewal of Gurdaspur has been residing in Shorkot for the last several years with a fake name of Muhammad Ramzan. On Sunday night, he visited the local railway station for some unknown reasons, sources said.

When contacted, Tariqabad police muharrar in whose jurisdiction the railway station is situated denied the arrest of any Indian agent. He also refused to comment in case of arrest made by some secret agency.

TWO SHOT DEAD: A man and a woman were shot dead on Monday in different incidents in rural areas of the city.

Mohsin Ali of Chak 581-GB was shot dead by Nazar, Allah Wasaya, Aurangzeb and Sadiq Ahmed to take revenge of an old enmity. Later, the attackers fled from the scene.

Athar and Abbas Ali shot dead a married woman, Yasmin Bibi, in Chak 501-GB after exchanging hot words over a minor issue.

Police have registered separate cases against the accused persons.

ASI BOOKED: Civil Lines police on Monday registered a case against an ASI for misplacing the file of a criminal case.

The DSP repeatedly asked ASI Fareed Hussain to present the file of the criminal case, but he failed to do so. The DSP got registered a case against the ASI and ordered investigation.

Meanwhile, Civil Lines police also registered a theft case against DCO’s clerk Tariq Mehmood for lifting some costly computer equipments and other articles from the office.
