SBP chief given 3-year extension
ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: Presi-dent Pervez Musharraf on Mon-day approved a three-year extension of the service of State Bank Governor Dr Ishrat Hussain.
According to sources, the formal notification to this effect will be issued soon.
Dr Hussain was scheduled to retire in December. He is one a senior member of the government’s economic team that reportedly enjoys full confidence of the president.
Science and Technology Minister Dr Attaur Rehman has already been made the chairman of Higher Education Board for three years with a status of federal minister.
Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, sources said, would be awarded ticket for Senate by Pakistan Muslim League (Q).
