KARACHI: Govt to build more houses

KARACHI, Nov 11: Sindh minister for law, social welfare and women development, Abdul Qadir Halepota, has said that the government is planning to construct a maximum number of houses for government employees on an easy instalment to solve their residential problems.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding purchase of 272 flats in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, on Monday. The meeting decided that the land upon which the flats were to be constructed would be surveyed and those on disputed land would be earmarked by the Sindh Board of Revenue.

The representative of the Pakistan Housing Authority informed the meeting that he would hold a meeting with the officials of the communication and works department for assessing the values of the flats and would also ensure that the flats proposed to be purchased are in a good condition.

The meeting was informed that the cost of government land, upon which the flats were constructed, would be communicated to the PHA.

The PHA and the Sindh government had agreed that the flats could be offered to the provincial government on the basis of actual cost of construction.—APP
