Fazl not ‘acceptable’ to PML-Q

Published November 11, 2002

LAHORE, Nov 10: PML-Q information secretary Anwarul Haq Ramay says his party will not accept Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a candidate for prime minister.

However, if the MMA withdraws him, way would be paved for cooperation between the two parties, he told reporters here on Sunday.

Ramay said his party was not willing to hold conditional talks with any party, including the MMA or the PPP. However, he said the PML-Q could form a coalition with the PPP and the MMA provided the latter two entities accepted share in power according to their representation in parliament.

He told a questioner that the MMA had been mandated to form its government in NWFP alone.
