KARACHI, Nov 10: Secretary-general of the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) and leader of the Muttahida Majalis Amal (MMA), Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro, held a meeting with president Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA), Imtiaz A Shaikh, on Sunday at his residence, and discussed the current political situation in the country.

Both the leaders vowed to continue discussions on the formation of government in Sindh. They also agreed to continue the cooperation between the SDA and the MMA in the province.

Imtiaz Shaikh said that his party was in close contact with other political parties including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for the formation of government.

He said the SDA would prove a majority in the Sindh Assembly with the help of political allies.

He said it was time politicians united and create national harmony to save democracy in the country. He said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had fulfilled his promise by holding elections and now it was the duty of political leadership to play their role to save democracy from further damage.

Dr Khalid Soomro also called on president Sindh PPP Parliamentarians, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, at his residence and informed him of the priorities of the MMA regarding the formation of government in Sindh.

Khuhro said a strong government was needed in Sindh to overcome all major problems afflicting people of the province. “This dream can materialize only if the major party of the province is provided opportunity to form government in the greater interest of Sindh.—PPI
