SRINAGAR, Nov 8: Indian forces on Friday claimed killing three Kashmiri Mujahideen in an encounter the previous night.

A police spokesman said the encounter, which took place in Gulabgarh, in Udhampur district, erupted minutes after Indian troops surrounded the village following a tipoff.

“The militants were hiding in the village and opened fire at the troops to break the cordon,” the spokesman said, adding all three were killed in the ensuing gunbattle.

“We are trying to ascertain the identity of the dead militants,” he said.—AFP
