No amendment to People’s Representation Act: Ranjha

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: Federal Law Minister Khalid Ranjha has denied the rumours that government was amending the clause in the Representation of People’s Act which relates to defection of changing party allegiance.

“It is absolutely wrong and baseless,” he told the BBC Radio.

The minister claimed that the government had no intention to amend the clause.

His attention was drawn towards the statements of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan and Raza Rabbani, wherein they had said that a draft was being prepared about it despite official denial, Mr Ranjha said: “If they are drafting it they might be aware of it. I do not think there is any thing. I mean to say if they are doing it they may be able to say something about it.”—APP
