12 die in train fire
By Our Correspondent
PARIS, Nov 6: Twelve passengers died on the Paris-Vienna night train as their railway car caught fire near the city of Nancy in eastern France.
As the fire broke out slightly after Nancy station, a rescue team was able to make its way within six minutes to the site of the blaze, but, says a spokesman for French National Railways (SNCF), “the damage had already been done.”
Authorities say they have not yet been able to establish the precise cause of the flash fire, but suspect that a faulty electrical circuit in the car’s heating facility was responsible.
