KARACHI, Nov 5: The chestnut four-year-old colt Shining Steel is on the hat trick trail, when the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting gets underway Wednesday at the Karachi Racecourse from 12 noon.

Participating in the sixth race with 16 runners vying for the top honours going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs, Shining Steel with M. Nisar perhaps in the saddle, should sprint past the winning post ahead of Golden Voice and top weight Neelam Taab.

All in all eight events have been drawn up on the racing card. The first seven will be run over five furlongs, while the last event of the afternoon will go over six furlongs.

Another contender that should not be beaten Wednesday, is the chestnut mare Lover’s Lady, although penalised to carry 9-4 on her back. Beaten by a neck last Sunday by Paddock Fancy, Lover’s Lady should pass the winning post ahead of Navaho Princess with only six runners in the field.

The opening race should be won by Sher Khan, chased all the way by Miss Neutron and Royal Springs.

Royal Wisdom looks a good thing in the next event, but will be challenged throughout the five furlong sprint by Reasonable and Richy Rich with Pearl, lurking in the shadows to upset the fancied runners.

Baby Tabbasum in the third race has the speed to get the better of Striker and High Speed, while Satellite Star with a good lad astride seems poised victory for Taj Mohammad’s stable in the following event. Cosby Kid could beat the form horse Silent Fire for the second spot. However, Quick Mover could upset all and sundry.

Reincarnated finishing a good second behind Rajwar with Mohammad Ali aboard three days ago, should do the trick this time and pick up the spoils from Power Plus and Order Of The Day, unless Blue’s Night decides to hit the victory trail in the following race.

The seventh race seems reserved for Royal Falcon with Mubasher Prince and X’tasy battling it out in the home stretch for the second spot.
