BAHAWALPUR, Nov 5: Poachers have set up their camps as migratory birds from various cold regions of the world have started reaching Cholistan.
It may be noted that the poachers invaded the desert despite sealing of the entire area for the security of amirs and princes from the Arab states who would start arriving this month.
They will net the birds and sell them in markets of big cities for thousands of rupees.
Meanwhile, the bird lovers have questioned the utility of government’s game warden department and its staff stationed in Bahawalpur and other districts adjacent to the Cholistan desert.
NA SESSION: Former minister and constitutional expert Haji Muhammad Saifullah has observed that before the constitution of senate, the convening of National Assembly session was unconstitutional.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he referred to a number of constitutional provisions in this regard.
He stated that under Article 56 of the 1973 Constitution, it was mandatory for the president to address the joint session of senate and National Assembly after the election of chairman and speaker respectively and before the election of prime minister.
He said for the election of prime minister, the president should summon a second session of the assembly.
TURBINE: A turbine installed to pump sweet water in Chak 115-DNB, Cholistan, was inaugurated on Monday.
This is the first of seven turbines which will be installed in Cholistan at a total cost of Rs9 million.
The turbine installation cost Rs1.2 million. It has a capacity to pump out 375 gallons of sweet water per minute. It will meet the needs of the residents of the Chak and their livestock.
