Over Rs300m released for uplift projects in Capital

ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received over Rs300 million for the completion of uplift projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2002-2003.
An official of the authority’s finance wing told Dawn on Sunday that the next tranche would be released in December this year.
He said out of the total amount, Rs170 million would be spent on maintenance work and Rs130 million on development projects. The government, he said, had allocated Rs632 million for the current fiscal year under the PSDP.
The uplift projects under the PSDP are to be commissioned in January 2003, and till that time no new project will be started, the official said.
An amount of Rs30 million has been allocated for dualization of IJ Principal Road. The project will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs932 million and, so far, Rs130 million has been spent on it.
Similarly, Rs102 million has been earmarked for the construction and furnishing of Parliament Lodges. The total cost of the project is Rs1255.104 million, out of which Rs1,153 million has been utilized so far.
For the improvement of first three phases of a sewage treatment plant and construction of its fourth phase, Rs20 million has been allocated. However, foreign aid worth Rs80 million will also be spent on the project in the current fiscal year, the official said.
Dualization of Islamabad Highway, from Gumrah Bridge to Rawat, is also one of the mega projects being executed by the CDA. An amount of Rs97.757 million has been allocated for the project in the current fiscal year. The project’s total cost is Rs633.52 million and, so far, Rs527.563 million has been utilized.
An amount of Rs0.500 million would be spent on a project concerning construction of office and residential accommodation for AGPR, Islamabad. So far, Rs68.858 million has spent on it against the total estimated cost of Rs99.827 million.
For additional safety work of Simly Dam, Rs22.864 million has been allocated for the current fiscal year. The entire project will cost Rs95.885 million, out of which Rs41.059 million has been utilized so far.
The CDA will spend Rs6.318 million on the installation of security equipment at Aiwan-i-Sadr. A sum of Rs13.677 million has so far been spent on the project against its total cost of Rs19.996 million.
An amount of Rs2.982 million will be utilized for installation of additional exhaust fans in government quarters at Sector G-9/2. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs7.671 million and, so far, Rs4.689 million has been spent on it.
The official said for laying additional 36-inch diameter water pipeline at Simly Dam, Rs15.617 million has been allocated. The total cost of project is Rs16.167 million, out of which Rs3.285 million has been spent.
The authority will spend Rs64.335 million on laying main pipeline from Shah Allah Ditta Reservoir to some sectors of the capital. The total cost of the project is Rs670.214 million and, so far, Rs447.474 million has been utilized.
