BADIN: Six injured in accident

BADIN, Nov 3: Six people were injured when a bus headed towards Matli collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction near the Tayyab Petrol Pump on Sunday.

All the people who were in the car were seriously injured and admitted to the Tando Ghulam Ali Health Unit. Later they were sent to a hospital in Hyderabad.

EIGHT HURT: Eight people were injured when a pickup plunged into a ditch after colliding with a truck, which was coming from Golarchi, near Badin.

EDUCATION: The Sindh chief secretary, K. B. Rind, has claimed that the government was giving priority to the promotion of education and was committed to increasing the literacy rate.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a new building at the Government High School Talhar on Saturday.

The building is being constructed by a multinational oil and gas exploration company.

On the occasion, the secretary, Education, Nazar Hussain Mehar, said that Sindh needed 95 per cent more girls middle schools to reduce illiteracy, especially among the females.

He said that an amount of Rs1 billion was being kept in the provincial budget for girls education.

He said, “Those students who attend their classes regularly for more than 23 days a month will receive Rs100 each as honorarium for the month.”

The district Nazim, Badin, Kamal Khan Chang; and the representatives of BP also spoke on the occasion.

DEMO: At least 47 job seekers held a protest demonstration against Hesco demanding an impartial enquiry regarding the delay of appointment orders of successful candidates of the district.

Carrying banners and placards they protested in front of the Tando Bago press club on Sunday.

They told newsmen that they feared that Hesco would employee their favourites through the back door thus ignoring them in the process.

They demanded early postings in order to remove their grievances.
