Published November 4, 2002

DADU, Nov 3: A large number of councillors and residents held a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday against the Dadu Taluka Municipal Administration (TMA).

They were carrying banners and chanting slogans against officials of the Dadu TMA.

Talking to newsmen, Councillors Ittehad president Fahim Akhtar Memon and Basheer Ahmad Bhatti said the drainage system of the area had collapsed last month and Nullahs were overflowing but the TMA had remained indifferent.

They said they had complained to the taluka Nazim but no action was taken.

They deplored heaps of garbage were lying at the Sabzi Mandi, Gharibabad, Jagatabad, Soorajabad and other areas, which were spreading disease in the town.

DEMO: A large number of activists of the Sindh People’s Youth Organization (SPYO) staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday against the arrest of Shah Mohammad Solangi, Dadu town president of the organization.

They were led by the district president of the SPYO, Anwar Mallah, and vice-president, Zulfiqar Ali Khokhar.

Talking to newsmen, they alleged after receiving bribe from a local PML (N) leader, Sarwar Solangi, the Dadu town police registered a false case against Solangi.

The police also raided the house of Solangi, broke the furniture and misbehaved with family members, they alleged.

They demanded action against police officials concerned and the release of Solangi.
