Boy injured as landmine goes off

SIALKOT, Nov 2: A minor boy sustained serious injuries early Saturday morning in a landmine blast in bordering Bhagor Kalan village of Sialkot working boundary’s Zafarwal-Shakargarh-Narowal sector.

Sources said an anti-person landmine planted in the field went off when Muhammad Irfan (12) who was going to school passed over it. He received injuries and was admitted to Sialkot CMH in critical condition.

STRIKE: The agitational strike of doctors in both Sialkot and Narowal districts on Saturday continued for the fifth day.

According to a PMA press release, the doctors in all government and private hospitals, clinic, BHUs and RHCs in Sialkot, Daska, Bhopalwala, Begowala, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Chawinda, Badiana, Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Baddomalhi and Narowal wore black armbands in protest against the detention of Dr Amir Aziz.

On the appeal of PMA, the doctors also took out a rally, chanted anti-government slogans and demanded immediate release of Dr Amir.

In Sialkot, the protesting doctors also observed a hunger strike on the second day.

BOYCOTTED: On the appeal of Sialkot district bar association, the local lawyers continued their strike and boycotted courts after 11 am to protest the illegal arrest of bar member Chaudhry Tahir Mehmood Hundali advocate.

According to a press release, the protesting lawyers also took out a rally and chanted slogans against the government and police, demanding immediate release of the bar member.
