PESHAWAR, Nov 1: Two sisters of Sardar Begum, who died in mysterious circumstances on Oct 9, have demanded of the government to initiate a fresh investigation into the death of their sister.
Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Friday, Gulzar Begum and Saeeda Bano, sisters of Sardar Begum, held Mazhar Ali Shah and his wife responsible for the murder of their sister. “When Mazhar was informed about the murder of his mother (Sardar Begum), he refused to lodge an FIR against anybody,” they alleged.
They said Mazhar was of the view that his mother had committed a suicide. But, later, Mazhar and some close relatives of his wife tried to implicate Sardar Begum’s two real brothers in the murder case, they said.
They demanded of the authorities to interrogate Mazhar’s wife, who lives in London, and some of her close relatives who live in Peshawar, for their alleged involvement in the case.
They said Mazhar was their nephew and was the heir to Sardar Begum’s property. “Our brothers cannot usurp the property of Sardar Begum because Mazhar is alive. Mazhar’s wife and her relatives are involved in the murder and police can reach a conclusion by interrogating Mazhar and his wife,” they added.
They refuted the allegations levelled by a cousin of Mazhar Shah that Sardar Begum’s brothers had killed their sister to usurp her property.
They claimed that Mazhar had been involved in the business of fake visas, car-lifting and other financial frauds. “Mazhar on various occasions asked his mother to sell her property and give him his share for business, but she refused to do so. Later, he conspired to kill her to become owner of all her properties,” they added.
