PML-N candidate moves SC: NA-125 results

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: Mohammad Akram Zaki, a PML-N candidate for NA-125, Lahore, on Friday approached the Supreme Court, seeking reversal of the LHC verdict ordering the Election Commission to declare the results of the constituencies it had withheld.

In a petition filed in the Supreme Court, Zaki said that it had been announced on the PTV and other private television channels that he had been elected from NA-125 constituency but the results were changed with the help of presiding officers of various polling stations.

He further stated that result sheets on the prescribed forms were not issued at various polling stations.

The petitioner said that later he was informed that Hamayun Akhtar had been declared the winner from the constituency. He said that the order of the LHC Chief Justice, directing the Election Commission to declare the result of NA-125, was coram non judice.

He demanded of the top court to reverse the verdict of the LHC CJ and restore the Election Commission order withholding the result of the constituency.

The petitioner, who approached the Supreme Court through Advocate Mohammad Akram Sheikh, sought an early hearing of his petition, saying the matter needed an urgent hearing.
