RISJA ends boycott

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: The press ended its boycott of 46th National Badminton Championship after the organisers Wednesday assured of all cooperation in the coverage of the event.

Officials of the Pakistan Badminton Federation, contacted office-bearers of Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association and apologised for giving a “cold shoulder” to newsmen at the opening ceremony Monday.

RISJA had announced a total blackout of the championship in protest against irresponsible attitude of the organisers who had made a mess of the arrangements for the press at the opening ceremony, failing even to provide a basic data concerning the championship.

PBF got in touch with RISJA Wednesday and, after making due apology, requested the journalists to withdraw their boycott of the championship, assuring of all cooperation henceforth in the discharge of their professional duties. RISJA accepted the apology and decided to end its boycott.—APP
