By Hamid Asghar

GUJAR KHAN, Oct 30: The law enforcement personnel have been put on high alert along the GT Road, between Rawalpindi and Jehlum to provide security cover to the US troops coming from the hilly area of Jehlum to Rawalpindi, reliable sources told Dawn on Wednesday evening.

The police personnel have been deployed along the GT Road since early Wednesday to ensure safe passage to the US troops who after participating in a joint military exercise with pakistan army, are likely to move to Rawalpindi on Thursday, the sources said.

To a question they divulged over condition of anonymity that the law enforcement agencies have been deployed to keep vigil on the road during the expected passage of the US troops.

The Jehlum District Police Officer, Salim Bhatti, when contacted, declined to give any detail about the security arrangements for US troops movement. He said it was a routine patrolling of the police personnel on the GT Road.
