SPLA annual elections held

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 30: The annual elections of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), Government Model College unit Mirpurkhas, were held the other day.

Syed Moinuddin Askari was elected as president, Abul Hassan vice president, Prof Rashid Ali Khokhar general secretary, Sabir Ali press secretary, and Habib Akhtar Jafri finance secretary.

Prof Khawar Siraj Ashrafi, Prof Ibrahim Baloch, and Prof Javed Yousuf have been elected as executive committee members.

RELIEF WORK: Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, senior member, Board of Revenue, Sindh, and relief commissioner, has said that the government of Sindh has launched relief work for the people of drought-hit areas of Sindh.

He was presiding over a meeting held in Mirpurkhas on Monday.

He said that 100kg wheat bags would be distributed free of cost to at least 30,015 families living in the desert area of Mirpurkhas.

Mr Manzoor said that the relief work would be regularized from the second week of November.

He said that monetary grant from Zakat and Baitulmaal fund have been provided.

The meeting reviewed the arrangements of distribution of relief goods in the desert areas of Taluka Umerkot in detail. The areas included Dinor, Kaplor, and 25 Dehs of additional Kaplor Tapa.
