NAWABSHAH, Oct 30: The local district council on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution condemning the murder of the Sindhi journalist from Kandhkot, Shahid Soomro.
The resolution called for immediate arrest of all the culprits involved in the murder of the journalist.
The district council session, which was presided over by Khalid Hussain Channa, was held here at the Pir Qurban Ali Hall.
The resolution was presented by the Nazim of Pir Zikiria union council, Syed Munir Shah.
The council members also called for shifting Shahid’s case to the special court besides provision of speedy justice to the bereaved family.
The members observed one-minute silence and offered Fateha for the slain journalist’s departed soul.
Meanwhile, the district Nazim, Faryal Talpur, reiterated allegations of rigging during the October 10 polls, saying that 45 teachers had been transferred by the election commission on political ground despite ban on transfers.
She said that she had reported the matter to the concerned authorities but nothing had been done so far.
The DCO, Abdul Qadir Mangi, informed the house that Rs100 million had been given for the development and beautification of Nawabshah.
He said that development work will be completed on a priority basis.
The members called for appointment of people from Nawabshah and Naushahro Feroze on the vacant posts in post offices.
