PESHAWAR, Oct 30: Commenting on the inter-clan rivalry between Orakzais and Regis in Peshawar, a spokesman for the City Development and Municipal Department has clarified that the land dispute between the two tribes has nothing to do with the Regi Model Town, Peshawar.
The involvement of the Regis in the inter-clan rivalry, the spokesman maintained, gave an erroneous impression that the dispute pertains to the Regi Model Town.
He said that the land encompassing the township had nothing to do with the dispute. In fact, he said, the defunct Peshawar Development Authority had acquired the land.
The dispute between the two clans, the spokesman said, involved land other than the area demarcated for the township.
The spokesman assured the public and the stakeholders that development work on the Rs8 billion township was being carried out at a brisk pace without any hindrance or hitch. He said that the original plan had been revised to give the scheme an altogether new look. Investors had shown keen interest and allotment letters would be issued soon, he added.
The spokesman urged the stakeholders/housing societies to pay second instalment of their plots to avoid penalty and enable the CD&MD to carry out the development work more expeditiously.
